The vision of Lending Hearts is to bring hope and strength to everyone impacted by cancer. We do this by providing emotional, social and physical support to those living cancer, with a special focus on the needs of children and young adults as well as their families and caregivers.
Junior Council
The mission of Lending Hearts Junior Council is to connect high school students from Pittsburgh-Area schools with Lending Hearts through volunteering, awareness and outreach opportunities. The Junior Council gives students the opportunity to learn and build leadership skills by committing volunteer hours to advocating for children and young adults living with cancer as part of a dynamic Pittsburgh-based organization. Members can also make an impact by building the Junior Council process and strategies!
We are now accepting applications for students interested in being part of Jr. Council starting the 2022-2023 school year. If interested, please submit two letters of recommendation (from non-family members) and a letter of interest (please include information about yourself & why you are interested in being part of Jr. Council) to Vasso Paliouras at vassop@lendinghearts.org by May 1, 2023.
Internships and Volunteers
Lending Hearts welcomes university students to be involved for an internship experience. Past students have included those studying in the fields of communication, social work, medical professionals and more. Interns are welcome to participate as volunteers or for class credit. Ask your university about doing an internship with Lending Hearts.
We also welcome volunteers to be involved at monthly family experiences, planning and implementing fundraising events as well as single day of fundraising event time and support. For volunteer opportunities contact Vasso Paliouras at vassop@lendinghearts.org
