Health Benefits of a Daily Detox Tea

Cleanses. Detoxes. Fasts. Kickstarters. And while they all have their place, the single and easiest thing to help restore our detoxification pathways is to take a few minutes each day for a simple, gentle, yet very effective daily detox. In the form of a tea.

Making Daily Detox Tea

In the most basic form, this daily detox tea could simply consist of lemons and warm water! In the version I’m sharing with you today, we are also incorporating ginger root, turmeric root, and a bit of honey (if desired).

Drink this tea first thing in the morning prior to any food and again at any other time during the day or evening.

  • 1 cup hot water (use whatever temperature you’d normally use for tea making)
  • 1 lemon, squeezed
  • 1 inch fresh ginger root, peeled
  • 1 inch fresh turmeric root, peeled
  • 1 tsp. raw honey

  1. Put all ingredients (except water) in the bottom of a mug. Once all ingredients are added, then add the water and stir to dissolve the honey.
  2. Allow to sit and cool then enjoy!

Benefits of a Daily Detox Tea

Waking up first thing and being intentional with a daily detox tea can be so rewarding both short and long-term. Right away, you’ll notice improvements in digestion, skin health, and energy levels. Over time, you’ll start to lower your toxic burden so that your body can be better equipped to handle environmental toxins and harmful chemicals when they head your way.

Our bodies are designed to bind and dispose of toxins, but in modern day society, this is becoming increasingly harder to keep up with because the burden is too great. Some intentional practices – like starting your day with a detox tea – can create such impactful snowball effects that systems in the body start to change and improve.

Lemon juice, our highlighted ingredient, is a wonderful liver tonic and helps to pull out toxins that have been stagnant for a long time. Ginger, an all around powerhouse for the immune system due to its anti-inflammatory and high-antioxidant properties also works to improve microcirculation within the kidneys as well as protecting them from cadmium, lead, and certain cancer drugs. Turmeric was chosen for similar reasons. It similarly supports the kidneys, aids in Phase 2 detoxification within the liver and purifies the blood – and again, it’s very anti-inflammatory! It even has anti-cancer properties. If you do choose to incorporate the raw honey don’t think it’s role is to simply sweeten your drink! Honey has B vitamins, enzymes, and is also great for the immune system.

Your body loves these foods and drinking a dose of this detox tea every day will make a huge difference in your overall health!
